Students from Sestu, Pimentel, Barrali, Pirri and Guasila are involved in the initiative.
The activities will conclude with two meetings focused on environmental sustainability, to be held in the municipal libraries of Guasila and Pimentel, led by educators from CEAS Monte Linas.
After the September events in Pimentel, the Tesori a Fumetti Festival moves into schools with a series of meetings inspired by this year’s theme, “Literature and Clouds.”
On October 2 and 6, two comics workshops dedicated to people with disabilities were held in Serramanna and Isili, curated by the festival’s artistic director Daniele Mocci, in collaboration with the Koinos and Il Prisma cooperatives.
From Tuesday, October 21 to Tuesday, October 28, the core of the school activities will take place. These sessions, curated by Marcello Lasio, Bruno Olivieri and Giacomo Pitzalis, will involve schools of different levels located in Sestu, Pimentel, Barrali, Pirri and Guasila.

Tuesday, October 21
Sestu | Primary School – I Circolo Didattico San Giovanni Bosco
In Sestu, Marcello Lasio will lead two workshops:
- 9:00 am – “From Narrative Fiction to Comics”, focusing on Animal Farm by George Orwell and its comics adaptation (by Alessandro Ruggieri, Yoshiko Watanabe and Mirko Milone);
- 11:00 am – “From Reality to Works of Fiction (Narrative and Comics)”, based on The Baron in the Trees by Italo Calvino and its comics adaptation by Sara Colaone.
Wednesday, October 22
Pimentel | Primary and Lower Secondary Schools
The town that gave birth to Tesori a Fumetti will host workshops curated by Bruno Olivieri:
- 9:00 am – “The Betrothed: Telling the Classics Through Comics”, featuring The Betrothed by Alessandro Manzoni and I promessi paperi by Edoardo Segantini and Giulio Chierchini;
- 11:00 am – “Journey to the Center of the Earth: Telling the Classics Through Comics”, focusing on Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne and Uncle Scrooge and the Journey to the Center of the Earth by Fabio Michelini and Guido Scala.
Barrali | Lower Secondary School
In Barrali, Marcello Lasio will again meet students with two workshops:
- 9:00 am – “The Fantasy Genre as an Interpretation of Reality”, discussing The Nonexistent Knight by Italo Calvino and its comics adaptation by Sualzo;
- 11:00 am – “A Character… in Between!”, focusing on another Calvino classic, The Cloven Viscount, and its comics version by Lorenza Natarella.
Thursday, October 23 & Friday, October 24
Pirri | Upper Secondary School – Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II
On October 23, at 10:00 am, Giacomo Pitzalis will lead the workshop
“Writing with Grace – Telling Horror Through Comics, Drawing from Sardinian Oral Tradition,” based on Sos contos de fuchile – Le novelle di Grazia Deledda by Silvia T. Zangrandi.
At 12:00 pm, the focus will be The Call of Cthulhu by H. P. Lovecraft, in the workshop
“Describing the Indescribable: The Figure of the Monster in Lovecraft’s Work.”
On the following day, October 24, again at 10:00 am, Pitzalis will explore
“Folk Horror: Setting and Historical Context as Key Elements in a Tale of Terror,” referencing The Willows by Algernon Blackwood.
At 12:00 pm, the topic will be
“Telling the End: A Lesson from Stephen King,” inspired by Full Dark, No Stars, particularly the short story 1922.
For all workshops on both days, the reference graphic novel will be L’amara nevicata, created by Giacomo Pitzalis and Luigi Porceddu.
Tuesday, October 28
Guasila | Municipal Library
Starting at 9:00 am, Bruno Olivieri will meet children from the 3rd and 4th grades of primary school in two workshops titled “Telling the Classics Through Comics.”
The reference books will be Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up by J. M. Barrie (both as a novel and a play) and its comics adaptation Peter Pan by Sref.
This will be followed by The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi and its comics version by Caterina Cappelli.
Pimentel | Municipal Library
At the same time in Pimentel, two meetings will be held by educators from CEAS Monte Linas:
- 9:00 am – “Fly on the Carpet of Sustainability,” an exploration of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, aimed at building a more inclusive, fair and sustainable society;
- 11:00 am – “Score a Goal!”, designed to help younger generations connect the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda with real life, both locally and globally, fostering deeper understanding.
Organization
The Tesori a Fumetti Festival is organized by the Municipality of Pimentel and the Assonanze Cultural Association, with the support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia – Department of Public Education, Cultural Heritage, Information, Performing Arts and Sports, and in collaboration with the Joyce Lussu Library System and the Tesauro Social Cooperative.
