Pimentel is getting ready to host the second edition of Tesori a Fumetti – Stories That Leave a Mark, the international comics festival, which will take place from September 4 to 7.
Organized by the Municipality in collaboration with the cultural association Assonanze, the event features a rich program of talks, masterclasses and exhibitions, all united by the theme “Literature and Clouds.”

PRESS RELEASE
August 20, 2025
A four-day immersion into the world of comics with nationally and internationally renowned authors: this is what the second edition of Tesori a Fumetti – Stories That Leave a Mark promises.
The festival, promoted by the Municipality of Pimentel, offers a comprehensive journey through genres, distinctive features and creative perspectives of those who, through their art, interpret one of the most versatile and heterogeneous expressions of today’s cultural landscape.
Among the festival’s goals, comics are also seen as an educational tool, as highlighted by Damiano Aresu, Mayor of Pimentel:
“After the success of last year, the municipal administration together with the Assonanze association is presenting the second edition of the Tesori a Fumetti festival. We firmly believe that investing in culture is essential, especially to provide young people with an example that can accompany them throughout their lives… encouraging them to spend their free time reading a comic or a book.”
These views are shared by Daniele Mocci, Artistic Director of the festival, who recalls this year’s theme:
“The second edition of Tesori a Fumetti was conceived as a natural continuation of the first. Here we are again, with a team of guest authors of the highest profile on the Italian and international scene, and with a theme that anyone who has encountered comics in their life has had to face sooner or later: the direct or indirect relationship between literature and speech balloons.”
The Guests
Numerous prestigious figures will contribute to the festival, including: Marcello Toninelli, Davide Barzi, Stefano Piani, Michele Medda, Moreno Burattini, Paolo Mottura, Sualzo (the pen name of Antonio Vincenti), Otto Gabos, Keiko Ichiguchi, Bruno Olivieri, Silvio Camboni, Ilaria Palleschi, Pasquale Frisenda, Sergio Gerasi and Andrea Venturi.
During all afternoon and evening events scheduled throughout the festival, Bruno Olivieri will create satirical and/or humorous cartoons live, using a graphic tablet connected to a projector, allowing the audience to follow the entire creative process in real time.
Each festival day will open with “My Comics Treasure”, a short monologue in which selected guest authors will present a graphic novel that has marked their personal and professional journeys.
Admission to all events is free, and they will also be available via live streaming on the festival’s official channels.
The Film
On September 4, Casa Piras will host the screening of the film The Road, directed by John Hillcoat, starring Viggo Mortensen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Charlize Theron, Robert Duvall and Guy Pearce.
The Exhibitions
As in last year’s edition, Tesori a Fumetti also gives space to exhibitions. From September 4 to 7, visitors will be able to see:
- Rusty Dogs, by Emiliano Longobardi & friends
- The Worlds of Otto, by Otto Gabos
- The Mystery of the Giants, by Luca Usai and Bruno Enna
The Masterclasses
The festival also offers the opportunity to take part in two free masterclasses, open to participants aged 15 and over.
- On Friday, September 5, screenwriter Stefano Piani will lead the masterclass Literature, Cinema and Comics. Starting from an analysis of the novel The Road by Cormac McCarthy, the session will provide key guidelines for adapting and rewriting a text for different expressive languages.
- On the following day, screenwriter Davide Barzi will conduct the masterclass Stories Never End. Beginning with an analysis of the graphic novel The Return of Dorian Gray (by Davide Barzi and Werner Maresta), linked to The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, the masterclass will explore some of the ways a screenwriter can create an imaginary sequel to a great literary classic.
This activity is organized in collaboration with the Scuola del Fumetto, founded by Giuseppe Calzolari in Milan.
Both masterclasses will take place at Ex Monte Granatico, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Registration for the masterclasses is open.
